Book List #6

January 2, 2012

The Girl on the Landing by Paul Torday
You can read my review here.

Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
I think this may have been the most boring book I’ve ever read!

When God Was A Rabbit by Sarah Winman
I enjoyed this – it’s written in quite an unusual style and has a few twists. I like the cover too!

Snow Drops by A.D. Miller
This was a tiny bit predictable but still a great read.

One Day by David Nicholls
You’ve probably read enough reviews by now so don’t need me to tell you that this is a fantastic book!

The Night Before Christmas by Scarlett Bailey
Brilliant Christmas book! It really got me feeling Christmassy (although I did find loads of typos!).

NOTW: Purple Dream

December 30, 2011

This will be the last glittery Nails of the Week for a while, I promise!  Here I have used Purple Dream from elf and topped it with some silver and blue glitter.

Christmas!

December 27, 2011

Back to coursework again today but here are some photos from our Christmas!

NOTW: Christmas Glitter

December 23, 2011

I’m pretty sure I’ve already done a Nails of the Week post this week but never mind – it’s Christmas!  I used a Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish for the base (819 Green With Envy) which normally looks turquoise but adding the gold glitter has made it look much more green.  It looks different colours in different lights so here are a few photos for you……

I’m not going to have time to post now until after Christmas so I hope you all have a lovely few Christmassy days!

Celtic Sheepskin

December 22, 2011

Celtic Sheepskin have some really lovely wintery clothes, shoes and accessories but you need to be quick to order in time for Christmas.  As long as your order is placed by 2pm today you’ll be guaranteed delivery for Christmas.

1. Classic Sheepskin Boots, £140

2. Longline Cable Tunic, £120

3. Verbier Hat, £98

4. Jacquard Wristwarmers, £23

5. Donegal Crew Neck Jumper, £70

6. Baby Booties, £15

As you can see, the stuff sold by Celtic Sheepskin is quite expensive but it’s good quality and sheepskin is very warm and cosy!

Winchester Christmas Market

December 20, 2011

On Sunday I went with Nick to Winchester to drop off Christmas presents for my cousins and do a bit of shopping at the Christmas Market.  We had a great day and managed to get Christmas presents for lots of people!

The market is next to the cathedral and although it is smaller than the Bath Christmas Market, it was easier to shop as it wasn’t as busy.  There are lots of different stalls selling everything from hand creams to Spanish sausages as well as plenty of places to get food and Christmassy drinks.

The town itself is really pretty and there are all the normal high street shops (and free parking up until Christmas!).  Has anyone else been to the Winchester Christmas Market?

Book List #5

December 19, 2011

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
To begin with I thought this was a bit slow but it turns into a brilliant, fast paced story which I couldn’t put down.

The Midwife’s Confession by Diane Chamberlain
This is a fantastic book – read my review here.

The Legacy by Kirsten Tranter
Some parts of this book were really good but I thought some bits were a tad slow.

Enigma by Robert Harris
My dad recommended this book to me (because of my university course!) and I loved it. I don’t think you need to be doing a maths subject to enjoy it though (my dad liked it too)!

Midwife on Call by Agnes Light
I kept on reading this thinking it would get better but it didn’t. It felt like I was reading about a woman bragging about how good a midwife she was.

The Good Soldier by Ford Maddox Ford
It took me a while to get into this but once I did I really liked it.

Far From The Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy
I really loved this!

NOTW: Marbled Nails

December 17, 2011

This morning, I saw Leanne’s attempt at at marbling and thought it looked really good so decided to have a go at it myself using the tutorial she had linked to here.  It’s obviously not perfect but I’m quite pleased with it considering I’d never done it before!  I was also surprised at how quick it was to do!

What do you think?
