Christmas Tree Nails…..

November 26, 2011

….. well sort of!  For my nails here I used a No 7 Stay Perfect Nail Varnish called Dollar which is a shimmery green colour.  I then sprinkled on some gold glitter on from my pot of nail glitter I had for Christmas from my sister a few years ago.

I’m really happy with how they turned out and they feel so Christmassy!  I’m off to Bath Christmas Market today to meet my mum and sister for a bit of Christmas shopping – can’t wait!

Body Collection Nail Polish

November 9, 2011

I was sent this Body Collection nail varnish to review a few months ago but managed to forget about it until now.  I’ve also forgotten who sent it to me and even after looking on Google I can’t find it for sale anywhere!  I still want to show it to you as I really love the Autumn colour so if anyone recognises the bottle please let me know!

I’ve used two coats as after one it was still slightly patchy but the consistency is easy to apply and I love the way it looks different colours in different lights.  It’s quite a unique colour – I definitely haven’t got anything else similar.  It’s really hard to photograph and is actually more red in real life!

Nubar Polka Dot Nail Lacquer

October 31, 2011

I’m always jealous when I see girls with amazing patterns on their nails because I just can’t do any sort of pattern on my own nails!  I can just about apply nail varnish ok on my right hand (I’m left handed) but I end up spending ages picking nail varnish off the skin around my nails on my left hand.  If I try anything like polka dots or even just a simple stripe across the top, I make a massive mess of it and have to take it off.

I was so happy when I saw this varnish from Nubar!  It means I can get cute dots on my nails without the hassle of painting each one on individually.  The polish looks dark grey in the bottle but actually comes out clear so can be used over any colour.  You can’t really choose where the dots end up but could probably move the bigger dots around with a cocktail stick if you wanted.

I love this polish – it’s so quick to use and instantly makes your nails look a little bit more special!  Definitely worth the £8.

Miners Nail Colour – London’s Calling

October 19, 2011

Here’s another of the nail polishes from Miners.  This one is called London’s Calling and on the website it’s described as a mushroom hue although I think it looks a bit too grey to be called mushroom.

This one was a bit runny when I applied it and it did need two coats to make sure it was properly opaque.  For £2.99 though it’s definitley worth the money and I really like the colour!

Miners Nail Colour

October 12, 2011

Over the last year or so I’ve stopped wearing pink nail varnishes as I’ve just got a bit bored of them.  That was until I found this lovely nail polish by Miners.  The shade is called plum which I’d have thought would be a purple colour but you can see that’s not the case!

The colour is a bit darker than pinks I’ve owned in the past and actually looks quite purple in some lights.  I love how much the colour stands out as well as the glossy finish.  In this photo I’m wearing two coats but it was opaque after just one coat so you could easily get away with just wearing one – I always apply two coats of nail varnish as I tend to chip my nails really easily!

If you want to try out this nail vanish, you can buy it online for £2.99.

No 7 Stay Perfect Dollar

July 31, 2011

I really love the nail varnishes in the No 7 Stay Pefect range.  They are so easy to apply and dry nice and quickly.  Last weekend I bought two new shades, the first of which being Dollar.  It’s a lovely greeny blue colour and I really like the glossy finish!

LCN Magnetic Nail Varnish

May 28, 2011

This week I’ve had my first experience with magnetic nail varnish!  The photo below shows you what it is supposed to look like….

I’ve got the LCN magnetic nail polish in Ferromagnetic Blue and Green Temptation and also two magnets – one with a diagonal pattern and the other with a star.  The first time I tried to use the nail varnish I got in a right mess!  Once you’ve applied the varnish, you have to hold the magnet above your nail for about 10 seconds to set the pattern.  To start with I was holding the magnet too far away and nothing was happening.  I found that I needed to hold the magnet really, really close to my nail for it to have any effect but that meant that I kept accidentally touching the wet nail with the magnet and smudging it!  Each time you make a mistake you have to reapply the nail varnish again or it is too dry for the magnet to work.

After a few practice attempts, I managed to get all of my nails looking pretty good.  However, I did find that one hand looked a lot better than the other.  I’m left handed so my right hand (the one in the photo) looks quite good but the left hand didn’t work as well.  It takes me longer to put nail varnish on with the wrong hand so I kept finding that my nails were drying before I could get the magnet to them.  It doesn’t look too bad though and I’m sure I’ll get quicker with practice!  I was surprised that the nail varnishes dries quite so quickly.

I really like this nail polish but you definitely shouldn’t try to use it is you are in a rush and don’t expect to get it perfect first time!

e.l.f Nail Polish – Copper

April 14, 2011

Here’s another of the new shades from e.l.f……

I really like this colour although it wasn’t what I was expecting after seeing the nail polish online.  The photo to the left is straight from the e.l.f website and you can see that in real life, the colour of the nail varnish is much warmer.  I actually prefer the real colour to the online image!

Like other e.l.f nail polishes I’ve tried, this one is really hard wearing and easy to apply.  e.l.f is fast becoming one of my favourite places to find good nail varnishes and I’m amazed by how cheap they are!

e.l.f. Nail Polish – Teal Blue

April 6, 2011

Last week I tried out one of the new nail polishes by e.l.f. and was majorly impressed by how long it stayed on my nails without chipping.  Another new shade that they’ve just released is ‘Teal Blue’ which is a lovely, bright blue / green – I can’t quite decide which!  After the summery weather last week, I thought it would be the perfect time to try out this summery shade but unfortunately it seems to have been raining ever since I applied it.

The colour is quite hard to photograph… it looks more like mint green here but it is definitely more blue in real life.

I kept this on my nails for five days before it started to chip!

e.l.f Nail Polish – Dark Purple Glitter

March 26, 2011

This e.l.f nail polish is such amazing value at just £1.50!  It is really easy to apply and the photo below shows two coats along with the top and base coats.  I put the nail varnish on on Wednesday morning and by today (Saturday), only one nail had chipped which I don’t think has ever happened for me with any other nail varnish I’ve used.  Usually they start to chip by the second day.  The chip is tiny as well so I’m hoping I won’t need to remove it for another few days yet.

I really like the colour but I’ve got to admit that I was slightly disappointed when it came out of the bottle.  It looks as though it will come out really glittery but, as you can see in the photo, the glitter barely shows up on my nails.  I did give the bottle a good shake before I opened it, and again after doing the first nail, but I think the glitter is just not very sparkly!  The colour is still lovely, just not what I was expecting.
