Forest Secrets

December 16, 2011

Forest Secrets is a skincare system containing facial serums which can be blended to create a skincare regime which fits your skin.  I’ve been sent the Try Me Set which contains three little tiny 2ml bottles of different serums…. the iRejuvenate Plus Elixir, the iRejuvenate Plus Serum and the iBright Serum.

I love the packaging – the three bottles fit snugly into the triangular box which is cardboard so is recyclable.  The set arrived with a booklet explaining how to use the serums depending on your skin type.  The idea is to use them morning and evening in place of your normal moisturiser.  When I first tried the serums, my skin felt greasy and I thought they might not sink in properly but after a ten minutes or so my skin felt moisturised rather than greasy.  The next time I used them, I adjusted the amounts so that it sank in much faster.  Now I use slightly less in the mornings and the recommended amount in the evening.  My skin’s been feeling really hydrated recently but it is odd not using moisturiser!

The serums are natural and don’t contain petrochemicals or artificial colours/fragrances.  The Try Me Set costs £15 which might seem a lot for just 6ml of serum but from what I’ve used so far, I think they should last quite a while!  I think it’s worth buying the Try Me Set to see whether the serums work for you before splashing out on the full size products.  You can buy Forest Secrets from The Urban Retreat Boutique.

Energys Resonance Skincare Range

March 1, 2011

Energys Resonance is a range of natural skincare products.  They don’t contain chemical emulsifiers, aggressive chemical preservatives, SLS, mineral oils, silicone oil, polyethylene glycols or parabens.  I’ve been trying out the following products:

From looking at their website, it seems as though the Energys products are suitable for pretty much any skin type.  I’ve got quite dry skin and I’ve definitely noticed an improvement since I started using the range.  All of the products of much more than I would normally pay which may be why I’ve actually seen an improvement in my skin!

The cleanser is really good and has a lovely fresh smell.  It also removes eye makeup which is something I look for in a cleanser as I can’t really be bothered using two products when I could use one.  The Gentle Exfoliant is in fact gentle, unlike lots of other so called ‘gentle’ exfoliators which make your skin feel as though you’ve rubbed it with sand paper.

The Youthful Skin Elixir is basically just a toner but it comes in a cute glass bottle which looks pretty smart.  Instead of using the skin elixir you can use the Energy Gel which does a similar thing but can also be used during the day to sooth headaches, tired feet or tense shoulder muscles.

I really like the face mask which can be used 2 to 3 times a week.  It leaves my skin feeling really soft and clean!  The moisturiser is good as well although it doesn’t smell quite as nice as some of the other products in the range.  It feels quite greasy when you apply it but it skins in faster than you would expect and makes my skin so smooth.  I really love it but I don’t know whether I could put up with the smell for more than one tub?

The only product I haven’t been impressed with is the eye cream.  This just seems to sit on the skin under my eyes and not sink in at all.  It feels greasy hours after I apply it and makes my under eye area look a bit shiny.  That being said, I really wish I wasn’t a student and could afford to buy the other products from this skincare range!

Lavera

May 28, 2010

Lavera is a company from Germany which makes natural skin care products.  All of their products are 100% free from synthetic perfumes, colourants and preservatives.

Last night I tried out the Lavera Naturkosmetik Organic Wild Rose travel kit.  It contains a rose scented cleanser (7.5ml), toner (10ml), moisturiser (7.5ml) and a face mask (10ml).  They are a good size to take away on holiday and are small enough to take as hand luggage on a plane, but I’m not sure the moisturiser would last for more than a few days.  Lavera do similar products for all different skin types.  I used the products for dry / aging skin.  I have got dry skin but I’m only 20 so hopefully not aging quite yet!  After using everything my skin felt very greasy and I was a bit worried that I would wake up with spots but in the morning my skin felt nice and soft with no trace of a spot so now I’m looking forward to finishing off all of the products.
